Hot yoga is a multi-level yoga that is practiced in an intentionally heated room. The heat warms and lengthens your muscles, prevents injuries and allows for a deeper release in your body. You will perspire and thus your perspiration flushes the toxins and poisons from your body and cleanses your systems. This practice (also known as a class in a health club/gym setting) combines vinyasa (flow) with long holds for deeper range of motion and focuses on the breath. As in vinyasa practices, students will experience the flowing breath and synchronized movement and the principles of alignment. Beginning students will be able to develop a strong practice while more advanced students will enhance their existing practice. It is recommended that you bring the following to the practice: a beach to put over your mat, a hand towel to wipe the perspiration off of yourself and a water bottle.
This is a multi-level and multi-formatted practice (also known as a class in a health club/gym setting) to address the human aspects of ying (calm, passive, introverted, reserve and weak) and yang (active, assertive, extroverted, expanding, and strong). You will gain flexibility and balance, in both physical and mental aspects. This yoga practice incorporates Asanas (postures), Pranayama (regulated breathing) and meditation (Dharana & Dhyana) into a physically active flowing (vinyasa) yoga. It focuses on breathing synchronized with asanas. At the discretion of the instruction the following yoga props are used: blocks, straps, bolsters, blankets and YogaFit® balls. Note: Pilates classes complement Yoga.
This class designed to provide the traditional Yoga Experience. It focuses on breathing synchronized with yoga poses. You will increase strength, flexibility, balance and body awareness. The class is designed to accommodate all levels of experiences thus the instructor "builds" on each pose. Instructor's style of teaching is YogaFit®.
Tuesday Vinaysa: In Sanskrit "nyasa" means "to place" and "vi" denotes "in a special way". In this class we will practice hatha yoga with the intention of vinaysa, meaning we will pay attention to the proper alignment and placement of each pose. We will also explore yoga concepts, breathing, and peak poses that will challenge and connect your mind body experience. This class is great for beginners who are just starting their yoga journey and for experienced practitioners shaping their practice with focus and intention.
Thursday Vinaysa Flow: This class will take concepts from the Tuesday vinaysa class and link the poses (asana) with movement, breath (pranayama), and music. This class will build heat from within, deepen our practice, and assist us in finding a state of balance. Feel free to take this class independent of Tuesday.
